Père Joseph DoucetThe English Canadian Province of Holy Cross announces with sadness the death of their confrère, Father Joseph Marie Doucet, CSC on May 4, 2006 in the Welland (Ontario) Hospital after a lengthy struggle with Cancer. Born in Inkerman, New Brunswick on April 30, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph and Celia Nardini Doucet.

After studies at St, Joseph's in Memramcook, NB, he was received into the Congregation of Holy Cross August 15, 1958, made final profession in 1962 and was ordained priest June 2, 1963.He was a high school chaplain in Montreal and a retreat director in Saint John before launching into parish ministry in Alberta, where he served parishes in Innisfail, Leduc and Edmonton.

He maintained very close and affectionate relationships with his four sisters and two brothers who survive him, Betty Ferguson (Vincent) of Tracadie-Sheila, NB, Bud (Valerie) and Regis (Moonyeen) of Saint John, NB, Angela Dugan (Walter, deceased) of Ottawa, ON, Ann Watkins (James, deceased), Port Carling, ON and Theresa Deering (Gregory) of St. Andrews, NB. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. They were all a great source of nourishment, encouragement and strength for him throughout his life. He was all of that for them also.

Visitation will be at Dupuis Funeral Home, 15 Route de la Vallée, Memramcook, NB E4K 3W5 Monday, May 8 from 7:00 to 9:00pm and Tuesday, May 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Vigil prayers will take place during Monday evening's visitation. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Saint-Thomas Church, Memramcook, NB, Tuesday evening, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Section of Saint-Thomas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Holy Cross Fathers Mission or CDC. www.dupuisfuneralhome.ca
